Selling guide · Jura trade-in
Jura trade-in vs selling privately: which is worth it?
Short answer: selling privately can put more cash in your hand if the machine works and you are patient with buyers. Trading in is quicker and works even if the machine is broken, but it is a $200 credit towards a refurbished Jura, not cash. If you were going to buy another Jura anyway, the trade-in is the simpler path. If you only want cash, sell it yourself.
- Any Jura, Breville or DeLonghi automatic qualifies, working or not.
- The credit is $200 off any refurbished Jura. One per purchase, and it cannot be combined with other offers.
- We do not quote a repair price on a trade-in machine.
- Most of our refurbished stock is sourced from trade-ins.
How the $200 trade-in works
You buy a refurbished Jura from us and trade in your old automatic against it. The machine can be a Jura, a Breville or a DeLonghi, and it can be working or not. The $200 comes off the price of the Jura you choose. At the time of writing that means an E8 at $1,049 or an S8 at $1,495 before the credit. The full terms are on the Jura trade-in page.
What selling privately involves
You photograph the machine, write the listing, answer questions, deal with people who ask if it is still available and never reply, and let strangers into your home to test it. Buyers who know Juras will ask when it was last serviced and will want to make coffee with milk. A buyer who finds a fault at pickup will either walk or ask for a discount. If it sells, you keep the cash.

The honest cons of trading in
- It is a credit, not cash. You only get the $200 if you buy a refurbished Jura from us.
- It is a fixed amount. A working, well-kept machine might sell privately for more than $200.
- One per purchase, and it cannot be combined with other offers.
- No repair quote. We do not price repairs on trade-in machines.
The honest cons of selling privately
- You carry the time and the chasing.
- A faulty machine is hard to sell, and fault-finding at pickup costs you in discounts.
- You may be asked for a warranty or a guarantee you cannot give.
- The cash is yours, but so is every problem the buyer finds.
Which should you choose?
Trade in if your machine is broken, if you are already buying a refurbished Jura, or if you do not want to deal with buyers. Sell privately if your machine works, you do not need to buy from us, and you would rather have cash. If you are not sure which Jura to buy as the replacement, the 60-second quiz gives a shortlist, and the refurbished collection shows what is in stock. What buyers on the other side of a private sale should watch for is covered in the used Jura buyer’s guide.
