Model review · Jura GIGA X7
Jura GIGA X7 review: the office GIGA at a quarter of its new price
Short answer: the GIGA X7 is a professional Jura built for 100 or more cups a day: two ceramic disc grinders with separate hoppers, two thermoblocks, two pumps, a 5-litre tank and a grounds container to match, making two drinks at once for as long as the office keeps pressing the button. New it is an $11,000 machine; refurbished from our workshop it is around $2,649 with a rebuilt brew unit and a 12-month warranty. It is the right buy for a 60–150 person office, a busy showroom or a public-facing site – and the wrong one for anywhere smaller.
- Two ceramic disc grinders and two bean hoppers – two beans, or twice the throughput; two thermoblocks and two pumps for two drinks at once with no recovery wait.
- About 5-litre tank and a large grounds container; the plumbed variant of the GIGA X range takes a mains water connection so the tank never empties.
- Rated for well over 100 cups a day – the duty cycle of a café-grade machine in a bench-top automatic.
- Refurbished around $2,649 at the time of writing (new RRP about $11,000); 12-month warranty; $80 insured freight or Melbourne delivery and set-up. Afterpay does not cover machines over $2,000 – call about payment.
What the GIGA X7 is for
Sites where a WE8 or X8 would be refilled three times a day and still have a queue: distribution centres on shifts, dealership showrooms with a service lounge, large offices, reception areas where the public helps itself. Everything about it is sized for volume – the twin grinders keep pace with back-to-back milk drinks, the twin heating systems hold temperature, and the consumables last a shift. It is overkill for a 20-person office, and we will say so if you call about one.
What it does well
Volume
Two drinks at once, continuously. In a break room at shift change the GIGA X7 clears a queue that would stall a single-grinder machine.
Two beans
A blend for milk drinks in one hopper, a single origin or decaf in the other, selected per drink. Offices with mixed tastes use this more than they expect.
Milk at scale
One-touch milk with automatic rinsing, poured for two cups from the dual spout. Pair it with a milk cooler and the office runs all day without touching the milk.
Built to be serviced
Professional-line components, every wearing part replaceable, and parts supply from Jura for years – the GIGA X7 care guide covers the office cleaning roster and service intervals.
What it does not do
- Suit a small office. Below about 50 cups a day you are paying for capacity you will not use – see the WE8.
- Fit a small kitchenette. It is a big, heavy machine with two hoppers; measure the bench and the height under cupboards.
- Look new. Ours are used office machines and show it; we send photos of the exact unit before it ships.
GIGA X7 vs the alternatives
| Against | Where the GIGA X7 wins | Where the other wins |
|---|---|---|
| Jura WE8 | Two grinders, two drinks at once, 100+ cups a day, plumbable variant | WE8 is far cheaper and right for 20–50 cups a day |
| Jura GIGA 5 | Office-rated duty cycle and 5-litre tank | GIGA 5 looks better in a home and suits 20–50 cups – GIGA 5 review |
| Renting a comparable office machine | Owned outright for less than a year’s rental; no tied beans | Rental bundles servicing on the supplier’s schedule |
| A commercial café machine | No barista needed, self-cleaning, one press | A café machine with a trained operator makes better espresso |
Buying a refurbished GIGA X7
Brew unit replaced, every seal and O-ring renewed, steam assembly refitted, both pumps resealed and pressure tested, sensors and ceramic valve tested, both grinders recalibrated, boilers descaled and the water circuit flushed, then run with real coffee through both hoppers. Twelve-month warranty on those internals, freight both ways on accepted claims. Office rental for a machine of this class runs $300–500 a month for three to five years; a refurbished GIGA X7 bought outright costs less than a year of that and is yours – buy vs rent. We deliver, set up, coordinate plumbing if you want it, and supply a milk cooler – office coffee machines Melbourne.
Refurbished Jura GIGA X7, around $2,649
Two grinders, rebuilt brew unit, 12-month warranty, delivered and set up in Melbourne. Bought outright, no contract.
