Jura Z8 manual: keeping a discontinued Z8 running

Short answer: Jura still hosts the Z8 manual in its support library, linked from our manuals page. Because the Z8 is no longer made, care matters: clean the milk system daily if used, run cleaning tablets and descaling when prompted, keep the filter setting accurate, and service it every 12–18 months. Most Z8 repairs are still worth doing.

Key facts

  • The Z8 is discontinued — no new units, but standard Jura service parts still fit most wear items.
  • Removing the filter without changing the setting stops descaling prompts.
  • Milk system: clean daily with cappuccino cleaner under daily use.
  • A single-fault Z8 repair is usually cheaper than replacing the machine.

Where can I find the Jura Z8 manual?

The Z8 is no longer sold new, but Jura still hosts its instructions in the official support library, linked from our Jura manuals page. Search by model or serial number. Because the Z8 is discontinued, it is also worth keeping a copy saved — this page covers the care and messages that matter most for keeping one running.

Why does Z8 care matter more now?

With no new Z8s being made, a well-kept one is worth keeping, and most parts that wear are still standard Jura service parts. The machines we see fail early have the same history: milk systems rinsed but never properly cleaned, and descaling skipped because the owner removed the filter without changing the setting.

  • Tell the machine the truth about the filter. If you stop using a filter, deactivate it in settings so descaling prompts come back.
  • Clean both milk and coffee paths. The Z8 makes milk drinks one-touch, so milk residue builds up quickly with daily use.
  • Keep the touchscreen dry. Wipe with a damp cloth only, never spray cleaner onto it.

What do common Jura Z8 messages mean?

Fill water tank

Low water or a tank not seated. Check the tank valve if it happens with a full tank.

Empty grounds container / Tray missing

Empty both and leave the tray out briefly so the counter resets.

Fill beans

Empty hopper or bridging beans — stir and avoid very oily roasts.

Milk system cleaning / Cleaning / Descaling / Filter

Follow the prompts. Do not keep postponing cleaning; the brew unit gums up and coffee turns thin.

Is it worth repairing a Z8?

Usually, yes. A Z8 that needs seals, a brew unit service or a grinder check is normally worth fixing, because the equivalent new machine costs far more. The exception is multiple major faults at once. Get a repair quote, then compare it with a refurbished Z8 or the newer Z10.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Jura Z8 discontinued?

Yes. The Z8 is no longer sold new in Australia. Refurbished and second-hand units are the only way to buy one, and it can still be serviced.

Can a Jura Z8 still be repaired?

Yes. Seals, brew unit servicing, grinder work and most common faults use standard Jura service parts. Get a quote before assuming it is finished.

Why has my Z8 stopped asking to descale?

Usually because a water filter is still activated in the settings. If you have removed the filter, deactivate it so the descaling prompts return.

How do I clean the Z8 touchscreen?

Switch off and wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Never spray cleaner directly onto the screen.

How long does a Z8 last?

Like other Jura automatic machines, 10–15 years is typical with regular cleaning and servicing every 12–18 months.

Still not right after the manual?
