Coffee machines for accounting firms
Short answer: a fully automatic Jura is the right machine for an accounting practice. Consistent client-meeting coffee at the press of a button, no barista training for staff, self-cleaning, and quiet enough for an open-plan office. Buy it outright, own the asset, and the numbers beat both café runs and rental contracts well inside the first year.
- Accounting offices have the most uneven coffee demand of any workplace: quiet in May, flat out from July to October. Size the machine for tax season, not February.
- An eight-person firm where staff buy one café coffee a day each spends roughly $10,000 a year. From an office machine it is under a dollar a cup.
- One-touch Jura machines make a flat white, latte or long black from one button, so clients, partners and graduates get the same cup.
- We sell outright with no contract, serviced from our Melbourne workshop with a parts-and-labour warranty.
Why the machine matters more in an accounting office
Three things are true of accounting practices that are not true of most workplaces. Clients sit in your meeting rooms, and the coffee you hand them is part of the impression. Your staff work long hours in tax season and a decent coffee at 7pm is a small, cheap thing that keeps people from resenting the building. And you already know what café runs cost, because you have seen the receipts. A good machine solves all three; a bad one becomes the thing nobody uses by August.
What to look for
- One-touch milk. Clients ask for flat whites and lattes. A machine that needs someone to steam milk by hand will be used for long blacks only within a month.
- Capacity for peak season. Count staff plus meeting-room coffees across a July day, not a quiet Wednesday in autumn.
- Self-cleaning. Automatic rinse cycles and a prompted cleaning program, so hygiene does not depend on whoever is rostered on.
- Quiet grinder. Newer Jura grinders are noticeably quieter, which matters in open-plan offices and near reception.
- A water filter. Protects the machine and removes descaling from the to-do list.
- Local servicing. A machine that goes down in tax season needs a technician this week, not a courier to a service centre interstate.

The numbers
Take an eight-person firm. If everyone buys one café coffee on a working day at Melbourne prices, that is around $10,000 a year, and it is money staff are spending, not the firm. A refurbished Jura WE8 bought outright, plus beans, milk and an annual service, costs well under a dollar a cup and the machine is on the books as an asset. You know the depreciation and instant asset write-off rules far better than we do – we will just note that a coffee machine for staff and client use is ordinary business equipment, and leave the treatment to you.
Buying outright vs renting
Rental agreements are pitched at exactly your kind of business: a small monthly figure, no capital outlay, a locked-in term of three to five years and usually a tied bean supply. Run the total and it is several times the cost of owning a refurbished machine. We sell outright with no contract; you own it from day one and buy beans wherever you like. Beans, servicing and support
We roast in Melbourne and deliver to offices weekly, fortnightly or monthly – set the schedule higher through tax season and drop it back afterwards. Servicing is done by the technician who refurbished your machine, and every machine carries a warranty on parts and labour. We supply firms across the Melbourne CBD and the western suburbs.

Frequently asked questions
Is an office coffee machine tax deductible?
A coffee machine bought for staff and client use is ordinary business equipment. How it is treated – depreciation, instant asset write-off, GST – is your call as the accountant; we are not tax advisers.
How loud is a Jura in an open-plan office?
The grinder runs for a few seconds per cup. Newer Jura grinders are noticeably quieter than older models and than most Breville-style machines.
Can clients make their own coffee?
Yes. One-touch machines need no instruction – a client can press flat white and get one.
How much maintenance does it need?
Emptying the grounds container and drip tray, refilling water and beans, and running the cleaning program when prompted. A few minutes a day in peak season.
What happens if it breaks in tax season?
You call us. We service the machines we sell from our Melbourne workshop under the parts-and-labour warranty.
