Common Breville faults we fix
Most Breville problems come back to three things: scale in the heating system, a worn seal, or the built-in grinder. Here is what we see most often.
Low or no pressure
The gauge barely moves or coffee drips through. Usually a scaled or failing pump, a blocked solenoid valve, or scale in the thermocoil restricting flow.
Grinder jammed or not grinding
Common on the Barista Express and Pro. Beans or debris lock the burrs, or the impeller under the lower burr wears so grounds stop feeding through.
Weak or no steam
The wand sputters, runs cold or only drips. Typically scale in the steam path, a tired steam valve, or a blocked tip and wand.
Leaking water
Water around the group head points to the group seal; water under the machine usually means a split hose, a perished o-ring or a leaking valve inside.
Descale or clean-me light stuck
The alert will not clear after a cycle, or the cycle will not finish. Often a flow problem behind the scenes rather than the light itself.
Tripping the power or not heating
A failed element, thermostat or thermal fuse. We trace the cause before anything goes back on your bench.
A proper Breville service
A service is more than a descale. We open the machine, deal with the wear parts and test it with real coffee before it leaves.
- Full descale of the thermocoil or boilers and the steam path
- Group head seal and shower screen replaced or cleaned
- Grinder stripped, cleaned and burrs checked for wear
- Pump pressure and solenoid valve checked
- Steam wand and tip cleared, o-rings replaced where needed
- Tested with real coffee before hand-back

Do you repair Breville coffee machines in Melbourne?
Yes. Our workshop is in Point Cook in Melbourne’s west and we take drop-offs by appointment. If you are elsewhere in Melbourne or interstate, we can arrange a courier to collect and return the machine.
